Science Fair Judges needed
The JLCP science fair will be held this Tuesday, January 14.
The time will be from 3:15 to no later than 5:15 for judging. We possibly will finish judging earlier than that.
If you or a high school* or college age** relative has a science background or a degree in science, engineering, or mathematics please consider judging for us. The more judges we have, the richer the experience for our students. Please e-mail me at smithp8@duvalschools.org if you can help us make our JLCP science fair a success. BTW...if your child is competing you will not have to judge her or his group.
THANK YOU
* Former JLCP, JWJ, and D-C students along with **Stanton and Paxon students should have a good foundation to be good judges.

Assignments for 01/06 and 01/07
Happy New Year to students and families. If you missed class before the holiday or right afterward then we need to get you caught up.
First and foremost, your FCAT Explorer assignments are due for your class either on Wednesday or Thursday. Your log in and password are the same as the one your language arts teacher gave you. If you have forgotten it then read back to December entries for that information.
Make sure you complete the 3 review lessons and take notes. Then do the section of the ship (again, it's all in December).
Here's a summary of activities/assignments made Monday and Tuesday.
Bellringer: calculate the A.U. between the sun and each planet along with the asteroid belt, the Kuiper Belt, and Eris. Remember 150,000,000km = 1 A. U.
Introduction to the Terrestrial Planets through the video: Spaceship Earth. You can view it by scrolling down to find the links. Everyone can try to watch the Mercury and Venus sections by either searching for the video on YouTube. There are some links available in previous posts.
Matrix of planets. Make a 9x11 matrix or see me for a copy of it along with the criteria to organize.
Read Unit 3 Lesson 4. Do the active reading questions and the Lesson Review p. 155.
Remember, FCAT Explorer is due Wednesday for B day and Thursday for A day.
