DEADLINES and EVENTS
Remember, I have deadlines to meet. I must have my grades ready on time and in order for you to have a chance to catch any errors I make. As a result, I am closing my grade book at 9AM on Monday, June 2.
Teacher Takeover day is Monday.
Locker clean out is Tuesday. Bring bags to carry home your belongings.
Book turn in is on Tuesday also. You won't be turning in your science book, so leave it at home.

Now that the FINAL EXAM/PROJECT also known as STEAM CHALENGE #2: LANDING SAFELY is winding down it's time for BALLOON RACERS!
Several groups have used their time wisely to begin building the cars in class. Materials have been very limited so they used what was on hand. If you did not start building in class (or even if you did) you may want to build a balloon racer to run in the races next week. Yes, we still have classes so I plan for my students to determine whose racer runs the fastest and whose goes the longest. What a great way to finish up STEAM. Now, these are not for a grade; just for fun and fame. The directions for a basic racer can be found at
http://www.nasa.gov/audience/foreducators/topnav/materials/listbytype/Rocket_Races.html
You can engineer your car to be the best at home over the weekend and bring it to class on Monday (B)or Tuesday (A). Of course if you are a B day person you can work on yours tomorrow in class if you want. Be sure to bring your own special materials. I do have balloons and a few plastic plates along with a few pieces of someone's science board and masking tape. If you want a glue gun, better wheels or whatever to go along with the straws I have then you need to bring it. Let the best engineered car win!

What's Due When????
As you all know the AQ's for the Gizmos Element Builder and Balancing Equations were due on Monday morning. Due to some confusion about what time they were due I pulled them again this afternoon. Those grades will be updated later this week. If you did not do your AQ's you may submit a print out of a screenshot, a copy of the graded questions, or a note from your parent stating your grade. You must also include a statement about why this activity is being submitted late and your parents must sign the statement. Get those results and statements to me by the 3pm on FRIDAY, May 9. I will NOT accept electronic messages for these activities.
The AQ's for Ionic Bond should be finished and ready to be pulled electronically by 8AM FRIDAY morning. That's May 9th. The bucket work should be finished when you walk into class either Wednesday or Thursday. Grades will be posted ASAP and a zero will be entered until you submit your work. There will be a 10% penalty each class period for late work for buckets 1-6.
Covalent Bonding may be logged in any class period through Tuesday, May 13. If you have the Algebra EOC during class you may have an extension until I see you during the next class.
STEAM CHALLENGE # 1 began yesterday. We will continue working on it for one more class (at least). Make sure you wear closed toe shoes and have a bottle for the rocket launcher.
STEAM CHALLENGE # 2 will be announced next week. Don't worry, we will work around EOC schedules as we plan our days of work.

Scrimmage Grades and NEW unit - you need some materials for class.
I intend to have the scrimmage grades posted for your progress reports. Some of you had to do them at home because you were absent. If you have not returned your bubble sheet to me then I can't scan it. I will scan bubble sheets one more time during my planning at 5th period. I will be in the hall prior to 5th period. You may bring me your bubble sheets then. If the scan works your grade will be reflected on your progress report. If you did not do the scrimmage for any reason or your bubble sheet did not scan, your grade will reflect a zero until you take the scrimmage. I will allow you to make it up in class while the other students make rockets on Monday or Tuesday.
We will begin our STEAM Unit on Monday. You will need a soft drink bottle or water bottle to make a rocket launcher. You will also need your own clear (scotch ) tape. I will provide the other materials. Bring your empty bottle to class. on Monday or Tuesday.
