Now that the FINAL EXAM/PROJECT also known as STEAM CHALENGE #2: LANDING SAFELY is winding down it's time for BALLOON RACERS!
Several groups have used their time wisely to begin building the cars in class. Materials have been very limited so they used what was on hand. If you did not start building in class (or even if you did) you may want to build a balloon racer to run in the races next week. Yes, we still have classes so I plan for my students to determine whose racer runs the fastest and whose goes the longest. What a great way to finish up STEAM. Now, these are not for a grade; just for fun and fame. The directions for a basic racer can be found at

You can engineer your car to be the best at home over the weekend and bring it to class on Monday (B)or Tuesday (A). Of course if you are a B day person you can work on yours tomorrow in class if you want. Be sure to bring your own special materials. I do have balloons and a few plastic plates along with a few pieces of someone's science board and masking tape. If you want a glue gun, better wheels or whatever to go along with the straws I have then you need to bring it. Let the best engineered car win!
